Liverpool club put up resistance against reigning champions

Everton are one of the most stable clubs in England. The Merseyside club have not been relegated from the elite English division since the early 1950s. Accordingly, the Liverpool side have spent 31 seasons of their existence in the Premier League. The current English league campaign for the Toffees did not work out from the start, leading to a change of head coach in January. However, Sean Dyche failed to fundamentally improve Everton's tournament situation. It is only by the results of this past round that we can judge that the club are finally scared and ready to fight desperately for their historic values. Everton have pulled out of the relegation zone, but with three rounds to go have a lead of just two points over its representatives. Manchester City are loaded with lofty goals and ambitions of their own. For a very long time, the Mancunian club has been in the role of catching up with Arsenal London this season. However, Pep Guardiola has proven his coaching skills and brought the team to peak playing form at the most crucial moment. A fine winning streak in 2023 saw Manchester City reach the FA Cup final, the Champions League semi-finals, and climb to the top of the Premier League table. Bookmakers have picked the visitors to the upcoming match as favourites, offering odds of 1.35 on their victory. Everton have had no other concerns than the Premier League since the start of January. However, this has not helped the team to find a good playing form to secure their position in the standings. From the middle of March to the first match in May the Toffees' unbeaten streak followed, which was broken quite unexpectedly but tastefully. Last weekend, Everton simply demolished Brighton (5-1), who are actively competing for a place in the European cup zone. The playing form and abilities of Manchester City's players are now well known and obvious to all. The visitors are definitely stronger than their opponents on all counts. However, Guardiola's side have more important things on their minds at the moment. In order to win the Champions League for the first time in their history, Manchester City need to prepare properly for the return leg against Madrid, which comes two full days after the game against Everton. In such a situation, it is unlikely that a less fierce motivation in the Premier League can prevail over City's players.
