Nottingham Forest – Leeds Utd

Nottingham Forest had four coaching staffs in the last season. The players didn’t have time to settle with the new specialists, as the club’s notorious president brought in yet another. Nuno Espírito Santo did not sit well at first, although it was this Portuguese coach who was the architect of the Forest’s successes a couple of seasons ago. The season ended with Vítor Pereira at the helm of Nottingham Forest, but the fate of this coach was sealed by his inability to prevent a squad in disarray from fighting for Premier League survival, and also by his failure to win in the Europa League, where they reached the semi-finals. For unknown reasons, Oliver Glasner found himself in this whole coaching carousel of his own accord, having won the Europa Conference League with Crystal Palace last year, and the year before made the 'Glassmakers' triumphant in the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield. Probably the talented Austrian was drawn by the prospect of working at a club that aims to preserve its core and sets itself ambitious goals. Glasner did not enjoy such luxury at Crystal Palace. The Glassmakers’ management proved short-sighted and, after the initial successes on the domestic scene, sold off all the leaders. Considering that Nottingham Forest lost to Leeds United in the first round of the Premier League, having shown nothing special in attack, Glasner’s days in the Forest squad are already up for discussion. In the off-season, Nottingham lost Elliott Anderson, who shone at the World Cup with the England squad, but in his place they signed three central midfielders: Osman Diomande, Gustavo Sa and Javier Schlager. Three days later, Leeds United will again take to the field at the City Ground. This year, the win in the Premier League over Nottingham Forest has already become the Peacocks’ second win. Despite Oliver Glasner having only recently taken charge of the 'Forest', he is simply obliged to draw conclusions from the defeat and avoid a repeat fiasco. Moreover, Nottingham Forest players know how to beat Leeds. In the first leg of last season’s campaign on their home turf, the 'Forest' beat their opponents 3-1.
