AIK will not be able to win at its home stadium in Solna

One of the most intriguing fixtures of the Allsvenskan game day will take place in Solna, a suburb of Stockholm. The twelve-time Swedish champion will host a bold upstart that, for the third season in a row, is not considered among any favorites. Despite a rich trophy haul, AIK has looked less coherent in recent years than the other two classic capital-city clubs: Hammarby and Djurgården. The third place from the two seasons ago championship dropped to seventh in the last season, and now AIK sits in ninth, with a similar number of points as the division rookie, Västerås. Sirius has never won anything meaningful in Sweden. At the same time, the feats of Häcken and Mjällby in past seasons inspire the mid-table clubs of Swedish football to strive for the highest positions. Something crazy erupted at the club from Uppsala after a 2-8 defeat to Djurgården in the last match of September 2025. From the very first October match, as if by a magic wand, Sirius became one of the strongest clubs in the country and subsequently progressed relentlessly. In the last nineteen official matches, Sirius has only lost once in a penalty shootout, and in two other cases finished with draws. Such statistics make even the obvious favorites fear the club from Uppsala. Bookmakers have made the visitors the favorites for the upcoming match, offering odds of 2.11 on their victory. AIK started the current season quite well, but after the third round slid to a mediocre level. In nine Allsvenskan matches, the Stockholm-based side has managed only three wins. Two of them came against fairly average league clubs — Kalmar and Halmstad. The third triumph was achieved by AIK in the previous round against the lackluster title contender Hammarby. In the Stockholm derby there's always a special atmosphere; the result doesn't always depend on the form of the teams. Sirius now resembles a steamroller, crushing everything that comes under it. In the nine clashes against the division's surprise leader, only Häcken managed to avoid defeat. The offensive output of the Uppsala club averages around three goals, which makes AIK a fair underdog ahead of the home meeting.
