Haecken – Sirius

The league leader will not lose in Gothenburg.

Häcken and Sirius, ahead of their personal meeting in the fifth round, may be linked by much more than meets the eye. The home team in 2022 became the trendsetters of 'fashion' in the Swedish Championship with their first-ever championship titles in its history. Then, under the guidance of the legendary Per-Mathias Hogmo, the modest club from Gothenburg surprised football fans with a confident season and interrupted the two-year dominance in Allsvenskan by the title-winning Malmö. Last season, Mjällby achieved a similar triumph, also for the first time in history. To take from the latest 'relay' of the first wins in the elite of Swedish football may be none other than Sirius. The club from Uppsala has played in Allsvenskan since 2017, gaining in this period the status of an unchanged mid-table in Sweden's top division. Not once in the nine previous seasons did Sirius finish lower than thirteenth and higher than seventh. However in the current season Andreas Engelmark's team has literally burst onto the scene with a winning streak and a level of football that exceeds not only the expectations for Sirius itself but also those of the division's recognised favourites. Moreover, the results achieved by the team in Allsvenskan do not look random, as a substantial rise in its level of play has been evident since the end of last season—October 2025. Bookmakers have named the guests the favourites for the upcoming match, offering odds of 2.36 on their victory. Häcken showed nothing remarkable last season. In Allsvenskan the Wasps finished in tenth place, and in the Conference League they failed to advance from the group stage, finishing 32nd out of 36 participants. In the Swedish Cup group stage in February–March this year Häcken finished second in their group, which did not allow them to reach the playoffs. In the league the Wasps began the season with an unbeaten streak. Moreover, against their city rivals GAIS and Gothenburg they won, while they could not cope with Brommapojkarna and Västerås, drawing with them. Sirius reached the level of Sweden's strongest teams after a defeat to Djurgården 2:8 in September last year. Since then, the team's unbeaten run has stood at 14 official matches. The Allsvenskan season for the Uppsala club began with four wins, including over league favourites Hammarby and Malmö. The visitors, at a minimum, will not lose.
