The league leader will not yield in Sheffield.

No one in Coventry City's camp or around the club could even imagine the difficulties their team was about to face. After the first defeat to Ipswich Town in the league, the Sky Blues' level of play fell to mediocre, and the results followed. Bookmakers named the home side as favorites for the upcoming match, offering odds of 2.45 on their win. If Sheffield United had started playing football not in November 2025, but at least two months earlier, like other solid division clubs, then there would be no doubt now about this team's bid for promotion. As of the end of February, the Blades are in good form. Over the last month the team played six official matches, losing only to Middlesbrough on their own ground. In the other matches there have been four wins and one draw. Coventry City in the first half of February lost the lead in the standings, which even in mid-December 2025 would have seemed an incredible development. That said, credit should be given to Lampard and his players. They not only reclaimed first place, but did so with a victory over their direct rival Middlesbrough. And in the previous round they strengthened their position with an away win over West Bromwich Albion. Coventry City now have a three-point lead over second place and are not going to lose in Sheffield.
