Parisians calmly pick up three points in the first leg of Ligue 1
In the first leg of the French championship, PSG will play away against Clermont as the reigning champions. The match does not promise to be a big problem for the Parisians, who changed their head coach in the summer. Unlike Mauricio Pochettino, Christophe Galtier is better at setting up his team for all tournaments, not just the European Cup. That can be seen at least from PSG's game against Nantes in the French Super Cup. Parisians were aimed at rivals' goals, played actively, aggressively, coherently, with good mood and without unnecessary relaxation. Therefore, they won 4-0, and could have been even bigger. We can expect that at least at the start of the season under Galtier, PSG will not play with their hands down, even the recognized stars of the Parisian club, who got another chance to prove their worth. In pre-season, in addition to beating Nantes, PSG beat Japan's Gamba Osaka (6-2), Urawa Reds (3-0) and Kawasaki Frontalet (2-1). Clermont also had a good preparation. It beat Toulouse (1-0), Rhodes (2-0), Montpellier (2-0) in their last matches, before losing to Lans (1-3). But when it comes to transfer losses and acquisitions, Clermont have severely weakened their attack, having let Bayo go to Lille for 15 million euros. The signing of Gonalon in midfield is a notable improvement. PSG have lost Di Maria and Dagba as striking performers, while Vitinha, Ekitike, Mukiele and Sanchez have emerged. Even without these reinforcements, though, the Parisians' class is much higher than that of Clermont, so they should easily beat this opponent even away. Last season, PSG also defeated Clermont twice, 4-0 and 6-1, in a relaxed manner. So the home side will have no argument against the Parisians.
