Dortmund – Bayern Munich

The German Super Cup match should be high-scoring.

The previous season on the German football stage was triumphant for Bayern Munich. The flagship of German football not only defended the championship title in the Bundesliga, where it broke all sorts of scoring records, but also managed to bring back the long-forgotten trophy of the national cup in Munich. The Champions League victory is the only thing Vincent Kompany's team failed to achieve. As a reminder, in the semi-final of last year's edition of the elite European tournament Bayern, already the favorite, faced PSG, but lost the two-legged tie by a one-goal margin. Since the Munich club won both the league and the cup on the national stage, their opponent in the German Super Cup was Borussia Dortmund. Just as confidently as Bayern won the Bundesliga last year, the Wasps clinched the runners-up finish. Bayern managed to overtake the third-placed Leipzig by eight points. The Dortmund coach remains Niko Kovac, who at the start of last year led them out of a difficult crisis. From last season's Champions League, the Wasps were eliminated at an early stage of the knockout rounds after a clash with Atalanta, and in the national cup they ended their pursuit of the trophy in the Round of 16, failing to beat Bayer on their home ground. Bookmakers have named the visitors as favorites for the upcoming German Super Cup clash, offering odds of 1.65 on their victory in regular time. Dortmund, in the run-up to the new season, lost Julian Brandt and Karim Adeyemi. The loss of the latter could seriously affect the Wasps' attacking options, who are accustomed to annually losing their key players. To compensate for the losses, Dortmund invested in four players for a total of over 100 million euros: Joey Veerman from PSV, Constantinos Karezas from Genk, Yiannis Konstanteliás from PAOK, and Joao Gadu from Leipzig. Bayern did not lose their leaders, unlike their rival, but signed Ismael Saibari, creating an alternative to Harry Kane, and Nathaniel Brown, who shone at the World Cup in North America. Everything looks like Bayern is better prepared for the start of the new season on the national stage.
