One of the most significant matches of the opening round of the group stage of the Champions League will take place in Munich. The local club regained its status as the champion of Germany after last season, but did not fulfil its ambitions on the European stage. Bayern aimed to compete in the home final of the Champions League but was eliminated in the playoffs by future finalist Inter. In turn, Chelsea is rapidly rebounding. Roman Abramovich is no longer the club's owner and the 'Blues' have undergone significant changes in their squad and coaching staff over several transfer windows. Finally, this summer the London club achieved its first significant success since winning the Champions League in 2021. At the Club World Cup in the USA, Maresca's team did not enter as favourites, but they overcame all tournament challenges and defeated PSG in the final match. Naturally, this drives Chelsea towards new ambitions, including those related to the Champions League. Bookmakers have made the home side the favourites for the upcoming match, offering odds of 1.65 for their victory. Bayern had an uneventful off-season with no major personnel upheavals. Tel was sold to Tottenham, Coman went to Al-Nassr, and Sane moved to Galatasaray. Notably, Bayern's significant acquisitions include Jonathan Tah from Bayer and Luis Diaz from Liverpool. Both players have been performing at a high level for the Munich club. Bayern started the football season with the German Super Cup, where they defeated Stuttgart 2-1. This was followed by three wins in the Bundesliga and one victory in the German Cup.
