In the match of the 12th round of the French championship, Metz will play at home against Nice. The representatives of different tiers of the league table are meeting, but their form is intriguing. Nice is in ninth place and until recently was confidently gaining points – the gap from the top four is only three points, with Toulouse just two points behind. However, Nice has been expending too much energy on their performances in the Europa League. This allowed Metz to rise to second to last place and get involved in the fight for survival, leaving Auxerre behind. Metz is only one point ahead of Lorient and Nantes, and two points ahead of Brest and Angers. So Metz could rise significantly if they continue in the same vein. Meanwhile, Nice does not look like an unbeatable opponent in their current state. Moreover, the last meetings between these teams have been in favour of Nice. They won the last three encounters with Metz, although those teams were quite different in terms of both the line-up and style of play.
