Brest can create problems for PSG

In the ninth round of the French championship, PSG will play away against Brest. The Parisians approach the match not as leaders, which is surprising for Ligue 1 in recent years, where the Parisian club usually established itself as a clear favourite and left no chances for competitors. Now, after a difficult and intense previous season, PSG does not look as dominant. Injuries and fatigue among the leaders complicate the game. Nevertheless, Luis Enrique's team is in second place in the league table, trailing Marseille by just one point and ahead of Strasbourg and Lens by the same margin, with Lyon two points behind. So the situation among the teams is extremely tight, and everything can change very quickly. Brest is also in a tight spot, but in the middle of the league table, sitting in 12th place, equal on points with Nantes, one point ahead of Lorient, and one point behind Paris. However, Brest is just three points away from the second-to-last position. Thus, they are formally closer to the relegation battlers than to those fighting for European spots. Nevertheless, that does not diminish Brest's audacity, as they can shine in attack against stronger teams. In the previous round, Brest drew 3-3 in a derby against Lorient. Before that, there was a goalless draw with Nantes and victories over Angers (2-0) and Nice (4-1). So, they are on a streak of four matches without defeat. The last loss was in mid-September against Paris (1-2). PSG also boasts impressive form, but they have to expend a lot of energy in the Champions League and compensate for a less-than-reliable defence with a powerful attack. This week, they thrashed Bayer 7-2 in the Champions League, and before that, they drew 3-3 with Strasbourg in Ligue 1. In the last four matches involving PSG, both the Parisians and their opponents have consistently scored.
