In the previous round, Lorient shared the points with Le Havre (1:1). Monaco, in the previous round, thrashed Metz (5:2), but before that, they unexpectedly lost to Brugge in the Champions League (1:4), managed to win in Ligue 1 against Auxerre (2:1) and Strasbourg (3:2). Overall, the performances of the Monégasques and their attack can be considered convincing, if it weren't for their problems in Belgium. Interestingly, the last time Monaco and Lorient met was in the season before last, and both games ended in a 2:2 draw. There is no reason to believe that the upcoming match will not be productive.
