PSG will aim to extend their winning streak against Marseille.

In the fifth round of the French championship, Marseille will play at home against PSG. This is the most principled rivalry in Ligue 1, and it promises to be a thrilling match. These opponents have started the season very differently. The Parisians confirm their status as the main favourites, despite losses in their squad. Ousmane Dembélé, João Neves, and Désiré Doué are injured. This does not prevent Luis Enrique's side from achieving only victories. It all started with success in the UEFA Super Cup followed by wins against Nantes and Angers with a score of 1-0, a rout of Toulouse (6-3), and a victory over Lens (2-0). This week in the Champions League, the Parisians handled Atalanta (4-0). So PSG is in good form. The same cannot be said for Marseille. The Provençals have once again seriously updated their squad, strengthening themselves quite well and appearing to be the second force in Ligue 1 in terms of composition and resources – just behind PSG. This direct confrontation should become a test of Marseille's ambitions. So far, they have been alternating between successes and failures. In the opening round, they managed to lose to Rennes while having the majority (0-1), after which they caused a scandal. Then they defeated Paris (5-2), lost to Lyon (0-1), and routed Lorient (4-0). This week in the Champions League, they lost to Real Madrid (1-2), with the decisive goal conceded while having the majority. In general, matches involving Marseille are always very exciting and filled with numerous dangerous moments. One can assume that the clash with PSG will also see an abundance of goal-scoring chances from both sides. However, in the last five meetings, the Parisians have consistently emerged victorious. Moreover, in four of these matches, they scored no less than three goals each time.
