In the match of the 3rd round of the French championship, Paris will play at home against Metz. The encounter is significant for several reasons. Firstly, both teams have come to Ligue 1 this season from the second division. Secondly, both teams have had a rather unsuccessful start to the current season. Apart from them, only Le Havre has zero points after two rounds. It is in this face-off between former second division participants that it may become clear which of them has a better chance of retaining their place in the elite. All their previous meetings took place in lower leagues. Last season, Metz defeated Paris in both rounds of Ligue 2 – with scores of 2:1 and 3:1. In their four previous encounters, both sides scored. Moreover, Paris has not beaten Metz since 2018. This is quite an unpleasant opponent for the Parisians, who have much more experience at a high level. However, Paris has enthusiasm, zeal, and a fighting spirit. Against Metz, this spirit should be special, given the journey the teams have taken to reach Ligue 1.
