Dortmund – Leverkusen

The Dortmund match will provide fans with plenty of goals.

Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen have seemingly swapped roles over the last couple of seasons. Last season, still under Xabi Alonso, the Pharmacists finished in second place, well behind Bayern and with a fairly substantial lead over Eintracht. In turn, the Wasps only after appointing Niko Kovac to the coaching post managed to climb out of the mid-table and, thanks to a victory in the last round of the season, finished fourth — the last spot in the Champions League zone. In the current season, Borussia will undoubtedly repeat Bayer's fate from last year. The team will no longer catch up to Bayern and will not let anyone from third place get close. The thing is that Bayer can only dream of the Wasps' fate last season. Currently the Leverkusen club sits in sixth place, four points behind fourth-placed Stuttgart. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim, also contending for a top-4 finish, have a much easier schedule than Bayer has been dealt. Also, the tension around Kasper Hjulmand's coaching staff isn't helping the Pharmacists. As the club says, the Dane will see out the season, but dragging him into the Champions League zone under current conditions will be extremely difficult. Bookmakers have set the home side as the favorites for the upcoming match, offering odds of 1.96 on their victory. Borussia Dortmund, after establishing itself as the likely future runner-up, has hardly slowed down, which would be exactly what its opponents would want. Even a much more motivated Stuttgart managed to lose to the Wasps at home 0-2 in the last round. The Kovac-led team now has a four-game winning streak, playing with ease and confidence. Most likely, such an approach will carry over to the upcoming match. Bayer is not the kind of club that needs extra motivation. The Pharmacists in the last meeting in March drew 3-3 with relegation-threatened Heidenheim. After that, Hjulmand's team were close to a collapse in the home match against Wolfsburg, which at the end of the first half was losing 1-3, but managed to turn it into a 6-3 rout. All in all, the Dortmund match is set to be a high-scoring affair.
