The visitors will take at least one point away to Düsseldorf

The season in the Second Bundesliga is rapidly drawing to a close. Hamburg and Cologne, eight rounds before the finish, are slightly behind their pursuers in the standings. With a dozen rounds here the leaders changed, and the density of the top of the championship caused some bewilderment. Given the small gap in the performance of the favourites, the fight for high positions of such teams as Kaiserslautern and Fortuna Düsseldorf is becoming more and more tense and responsible. The home side are in fourth place five points off the top spot, while the visitors are eighth with seven points from leading Hamburg. It seems that a couple more losses of points for each of their rivals and ambitions can be forgotten. At the same time, Fortuna before the start of the season was considered one of the most likely favourites to win the championship, and Kaiserslautern almost went to the Third League at the end of last season. Bookmakers have identified the home team as the favourites for the upcoming meeting, offering odds of 2.35 on their victory. A few rounds ago, Kaiserslautern were on the verge of reaching the first place. The Red Devils came out of the winter break with a series of four wins in a row. Problems began in the second half of February, when a draw with Hannover was followed by a defeat to Hamburg. The team gave away a similar sequence of two matches in the past rounds, in the last of them losing to Paderborn with a score of 3:5. It looks like Kaiserslautern, who are not classy enough to qualify for the Bundesliga, have fallen into a long-awaited crisis and are now playing at the level at which they spent almost the entire last season. Fortuna Düsseldorf have been on a near championship schedule since the beginning of the year. While the other promotion contenders were suffering defeats, Fortuna, along with Hamburg, were steadily picking up points. As a result, in six matches in January and February against serious opponents, Daniel Thione's men won three and drew three times. On the last day of February, Fortuna suffered their first defeat of the year before being defeated in Hamburg. In the last round, the team interrupted the series of failures with a victory over Regensburg. Both opponents are not in the best shape, but there is no reason to consider the guests weaker.
