Bayern Munich – Freiburg

The guests will play with dignity against the champions on their field

The German champion has had a traditionally difficult calendar in recent weeks, playing two matches a week. The opponents for Tuchel's team are either very serious or the conditions are far from comfortable. So far, the Munich club is coping and achieving results adequate to its status, but any subsequent match could end in a misfire. It happened to Bayern before Tuchel, and it's possible today. Freiburg's pace of play is not particularly different from Bayern's, but the expectations of this club are much lower, so the pressure for results is not the same, and there is much less criticism in case of defeat. Now Bayern and Freiburg are respectively on the third and eighth positions with four points advantage in favour of the German champion. Bookmakers have identified the home team as the clear favourites for the upcoming meeting, offering odds of 1.16 on their victory. After the defeat in the German Super Cup, Bayern have stumbled a bit in two of the six rounds of the Bundesliga. After three opening wins in the league over Werder, Augsburg and Borussia M, the Munich club lost points in their home meeting with Bayer, allowing their opponents to kick penalties in the final minutes. Last round, Tuchel's team played catch-up in Leipzig, where the 0:2 scoreline managed to convert into a 2:2 draw. On the European stage, Bayern defeated Manchester United 4-3 at home and on Tuesday took away a tough 2-1 win from Copenhagen, who were even on the losing side. Last season was one of the most intense and successful in Freiburg's history. Almost the entire Bundesliga, the club fought for a place in the Champions League, only at the end losing the coveted place in the top 4 to Union Berlin. In addition to the championship, the wards of the permanent Christian Streich successfully performed on two other football fronts. In the Europa League they reached the 1/8 finals, flying from Juventus, and the German Cup left in the semi-finals through the efforts of Leipzig, but before that managed to Munich "swat" Bayern. In the current Bundesliga season, Freiburg lost two matches: to Stuttgart and Borussia Dortmund. Now Streich's team has a winless streak of four matches. In the upcoming meeting, the guests are outsiders, but to save face is definitely in their power.
