The home team will not lose to the reigning German vice-champion

The next round of the German elite division has been disappointing for some teams, but for others it has been beyond praise. Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund will face each other in the fourth round as mid-table neighbours. The home side have managed to win two of their three Bundesliga matches on a current goal difference of 3:6, which puts them in eighth position. Edin Terzic's team started the season for the second consecutive season after losing the leader who determined the level of their performances. Erling Holland was the main loss the season before last, and Jude Bellingham was the main loss last season. Now the Norwegian and English stars shine in Manchester City and Madrid, respectively, while the Bumblebees have trouble picking up points even against mediocre Bundesliga sides. With five points, the Dortmund club is in ninth place. Bookmakers have identified the guests as favorites for the upcoming meeting, offering odds of 2.11 on their victory. Last season for Freiburg was one of the most intense and successful in history. Almost the entire Bundesliga season the club fought for a place in the Champions League, only at the end losing the coveted place in the top 4 to Union Berlin. In addition to the championship, the wards of the permanent Christian Streich successfully performed on two other football fronts. In the Europa League they reached the 1/8 finals, flying from Juventus, and the German Cup left in the semifinals through the efforts of Leipzig, but before that managed to Munich "swat" Bayern. Freiburg started the new championship with victories over Hoffenheim and Werder, but in the last round "forgot" to take the field in Stuttgart, losing to not the strongest representative of the Bundesliga with a score of 0:5. Similar failures and last season happened to Straich's team, and they did not always indicate a game slump of the club for more than one match. Borussia Dortmund in 2023 is an extremely diligent, but not overly fortunate club. The team gave out an excellent second round of last season, but in the last round simply gave the championship title to Bayern Munich. Having started the new championship with a modest 1-0 win over Cologne, the Bumblebees failed to beat even more modest Bochum and Heidenheim. Borussia are not yet in a position to beat the industrious Freiburg at their arena.
