Budø/Glimt is a relatively new project for Norwegian football in terms of success rate. The team had never won the national championship until the 2019/2020 season, after which they made a real breakthrough. The past three seasons have brought Kjetil Knutsen's team two championship titles and one vice-championship title. Last year, Budø/Glimt lost some ground and lost the top spot to Moulde without a chance. Tromsø has never won Norway's elite division in its history but has been in it for decades with rare one-year exceptions. Gauthe Helstrup's team is one of the most progressive in the Scandinavian country's championship. The season before last it finished in twelfth place, last season in seventh place, and now it is third. Tromsø are roughly on par with reigning champions Moulde and are twelve points behind their upcoming opponents. The bookmakers have the home team as clear favourites for Sunday's encounter, offering odds of 1.34 on their victory. Budø/Glimt have been at their best in all the tournaments they have played in over the last month. In addition to the mentioned success in the Conference League, Knutsen's men have advanced to the semi-finals of the Norwegian Cup during this period, as well as scoring ten points in four rounds of the national championship. Despite a very high performance in the league, Budø/Glimt concede an average of exactly one goal per game. The upcoming opponent of the table leader faced him in the 1/8 finals of the Norwegian Cup a month ago. Until the 77th minute of that match Tromsø won away with a score of 2:0, but managed to lose, conceding two goals in stoppage time (2:3). Most likely, the upcoming match will also contain goals from both teams.
