The American will start the meeting better and take the opening set

Andrei Rublev and Taylor Fritz will play each other on 15 April in the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters. Who will be stronger? Rublev faced Jan-Lennard Struff in the Monte Carlo Masters quarter-finals and defeated him in two sets (6-1, 7-6). Against the German player Andrew scored seven aces, converted four break points and lost two games on his serve. Earlier in the tournament the Russian defeated his compatriot Karen Khachanov and edged out Jaume Munyar of Spain. Fritz took on world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Monte Carlo Masters quarter-finals. Taylor took the Greek player to two sets (6-2, 6-4), breaking three aces, four break points and losing one game on serve. Earlier in the match the American had beaten Jiri Leheczka and Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland. Fritz has already played in three semi-finals this season - in Dallas, Delray Beach and Acapulco. Rublev and Fritz have previously faced each other six times during their careers. The last face-to-face encounter between the two took place last year. The Cincinnati Masters match turned out to be a topsy-turvy one. Fritz is playing well on the ground in Monte Carlo. In the quarterfinals Taylor beat last year's Masters winner Stefanos Tsitsipas easily in two sets. The American stands a good chance of reaching the final of the tournament as he leads 4-2 against Rublev in head-to-head encounters. Fritz will take the lead straight away and take the first set.
