Lech are traditionally one of the strongest clubs in Polish football, but the last time they reached the group stage of the European competition was back in 2011. The Poznań-based club finished second behind Villarreal in the current Conference League group stage, managing to beat the Spaniards 3-0 at home in the last round. Both sides made their way through the play-offs, not conceding a single goal in their four games against Norway's Budo/Glimt and Sweden's Djurgården. The former were beaten 1-0 on aggregate, the latter 5-0. Fiorentina also finished second in the group stage, but lost to Başakşehir only on penalties. In the 1/16 final, the Pitmen dealt with a more than serious opponent in Braga, beating the Portuguese in both meetings. In the last round, the Italian side had no trouble at all against lowly Sivasspor, 1-0 and 4-1. Before the encounter in Poland, bookmakers see the visitors as favorites, with odds of 1.82 to win. Lech have their own style of play and in 2023 they have been consistently performing on two football fronts. Out of their fifteen games in the national championship and the Conference League, they have only lost two. Moreover, both Zaglembé and Szląsk Wrocław lost 1-2, fighting until the final whistles. In other words, Lech's players are psychologically stable and are unlikely to give up on the visitors from Italy. The Poznań side have already played two games in April, taking their total tally to four points without conceding third place (Pogon Szczecin 2-2). Fiorentina sit ninth in Serie A, at least seven points behind European competition. The team from Florence average just over two goals per game. In other words, in order to provoke a productive encounter with the Vials, you need to go forward recklessly yourself, which Lech are clearly not going to do in the upcoming match. In the previous four official meetings, Fiorentina have never registered three or more goals.
