Portsmouth – Bolton Wanderers

We anticipate goals from both teams in a competitive encounter

Portsmouth, unlike their upcoming opponents, have not taken a step up from last season. That said, the team should not be ashamed of their results over the past month and a half. In the nine official meetings since mid-January, Portsmouth have only lost away to the second, fourth and ninth teams in the division. The Pompys have not conceded a goal in the last three rounds, picking up a total of seven points from a possible nine. Bolton could well break their opponents` goalless streak. In the last ten games of the season, the Wanderers have failed to score just once. That was a week and a half ago, when, in a very competitive encounter, Bolton failed to take away points from visiting Wycombe. However, the Wanderers had scored five unanswered goals against Milton Keynes and Peterborough United in the two games prior to that trip. Bolton and Portsmouth played a match at Bolton University Stadium in mid-January. The Wanderers left their opponents no chance on the scoresheet, smashing them 3-0, but on the game, Portsmouth did not look hopeless. Most likely, the hosts in the upcoming meeting will not be able to extend their current goalless streak. However, Portsmouth itself has scored at least once in almost all home games of the season. We'll bet that the opponents will exchange goals.
