Bayern are justifiably favourites for tonight’s away game

Bayern have been a major cause of super profits for the bookmakers this January. No one expected the Munich club, who went into last year's break with a ten-match winning streak, to suffer three straight defeats against teams of varying levels and classes. Of course, Wolfsburg get the champion as their opponent at exactly the time when the "beast" is wounded and particularly angry. All the more so, it would be rash to call the home team's mood good at the moment. Wolfsburg failed to live up to their fans' expectations twice last week. Bookmakers have identified the visitors from Munich as the favourite for the match at the Volkswagen Arena, with a win estimated at odds of 1.58. Wolfsburg started the current season poorly, with hardly any wins in August and September 2022. However, since October 1, it is as if the team has been replaced - it has stopped losing for almost four months. Not only that, since the last match in October, the Wolves have produced a six-match winning streak that was phenomenal in January. In the two opening games of the new year, Wolfsburg beat Freiburg and Hertha 11-0 on aggregate. The impressive series came to an end in Bremen, where local Werder scored one less goal than their opponents thanks to Fullkrug's efforts. Wolfsburg also lost to Union Berlin in the German capital on Tuesday, forcing them to drop out of the German Cup. Of course, the Wolves can't help but tune up for the upcoming match. But it is also evident that the two defeats in a row were the result of problems with Niko Kovac's team. Bayern, in turn, expose any opponent's problems. All the more so, Munich are currently in a slump that is in dire need of recovery. The champion, after losing six points in the last three rounds (1-1 draws to Leipzig, Cologne and Eintracht), is one point behind Union Berlin, two points behind Leipzig and three points behind Borussia. With Bayern travelling to Paris in a week and a half for the Champions League last eight match, it is time for the team to get back on the winning ways.
