Sassuolo – Milan

Can we expect the teams to produce a high-scoring encounter?

Milan are just one point short of a long-awaited title. They are two points ahead of Inter and are favourites to win the scudetto because of their best head-to-head record. The results of their recent encounters fully justify their reputation. The Rossoneri have been victorious in five rounds and defeated Atalanta in the last one. Although Stefano Pioli's side won 2-0, they could have scored more. Milan have put their pragmatism aside a little in recent matches. Prior to that, the team had beaten Verona 1-3 and Lazio 1-2, and also lost heavily to Inter in the Italian Cup semi-finals. By the way, Milan have conceded consecutively in their last three away games. Sassuolo are sitting 11th in the standings with 50 points. After three defeats in a row, one of which was a 6-1 loss to Napoli, the team are finally on a winning streak. On the previous matchday the Neroverdi defeated Bologna 3-1 and before that they shared points with Udinese. It is worth noting that the team have only failed to score once in their last ten games. Ironically, that game was against Cagliari in which Alessio Dionisi's men failed to score. During that stretch, Sassuolo featured goals from Lazio, Atalanta, Juventus and the aforementioned Napoli. It was also very typical of the Neroverdi's first-round encounter. Back then, Dionisi's side were able to pull off a 1-3 away win. A draw is enough for Milan, but it's too dangerous to go out hoping to split the points. Sassuolo are not the easiest of opponents to take on, with a distinctive style of play. This season, Lazio, Juventus and even Inter have all proven that. You can't expect the Neroverdi to concede the league title that easily. Dionisi's side will play their style of football, which means they will focus on attack. And it could well result in Milan catching up. Either way, the fans will be in for a very interesting match. Very probably with at least three goals.
