Atalanta can bring intrigue to the title race

Atalanta's win over Spezia last weekend added even more intrigue to the table. Three teams (Roma, Fiorentina and Atalanta) have the same number of points - 59. They are fighting for places in the Europa League and the Conference League, but depending on the result of Roma's meeting in the Conference League final, the quotas for the international tournaments will have time to change. Therefore, it is vital for the teams to score maximum points and not make life difficult for themselves. Bergamasks still have to face Empoli. After their disappointing encounters with Torino and Salernitana, the team got a pretty confident 1-3 win over Spezia. It is important to note that Gian Piero Gasperini's men perform much better away than at home. Thus, in 18 games, the Goddess have won 12 times and split points three times. And the three defeats (to Sassuolo, Roma and Fiorentina) were by a single goal. Milan are in contention for the Scudetto but have a difficult calendar.. Stefano Pioli's side have won four in a row in the league, but not easily. It is also worth mentioning that in their last seven home games, the Milan club have won four, but only one of them was not 1-0. It was over Genoa and the scoreline at the Giuseppe Meazza was 2-0. The statistics of the past five meetings between the teams are equal: two wins for each team and one draw. Milan's first leg of the season saw a 2-3 away win, but such a scenario is unlikely to be repeated this time around. The price of error for both teams is too high. Pioli's side have started to play very pragmatically and have been winning by very marginal margins, but they're going to have a tough time of it now. The Bergamasks are in contention for the European Cup and could very well influence the final allocation of places at the very top of the table.
