Lyon face Reims on the road in the fourth leg of the French championship. The teams have had a dramatically different start to the season. Reims lost 1-4 to Marseille in the first leg, then conceded four goals to modest Clermont - 2-4, and in the previous round played out a draw with Strasbourg (1-1) and are already in the relegation zone. This does not match the potential of Reims, as the team should rather count on a place in the middle of the standings. Unexpectedly the defense, which in previous seasons helped this team and allowed them to score points even in matches with difficult opponents, let them down. But Reims are trying to play more openly and score in every game. Apparently, this does not help much. Lyon can allow their opponent's attack to flourish, as they themselves do not shine in defense, but at the same time they have one of the strongest attacking groups in Ligue 1. Lyon beat Ajaccio 2-1 at home in the first round, then crushed Troyes 4-1. Lyon missed one match - the game against Lorient was postponed. So potentially Lyon go into the series without losing a point. So far, only one such team is PSG. Interestingly, Lyon picked up only one point against Reims last season. Lyon lost the home game 1-2, and settled for a goalless draw. But such a scenario is unlikely to be repeated this time. Lyon have scored more than two goals in their last nine Ligue 1 games, themselves having scored two or more goals in their last seven league games. Lyon will not be able to count on the suspended goalkeeper Lopes, as well as the injured Diomande, Boateng and Pollersbeck. Reims, on the other hand, have all their main players fit and ready to play.
